Remote Monitoring Modem

The ISO10368 Remote Monitoring Modem (RMM) is the key component in power-line communication for monitoring and control of reefer containers.

Each container equipped with an RMM is able to send data on its operating conditions and alarms to a central monitoring system, such as Johnson Controls' s REFCON system.

Besides monitoring, the RMM can be used to remotely control various reefer container functions, which include changing the setpoint, initiating defrost, and activating automatic pre-trip inspection.

ComPosIT

ComPosIT is a stand alone monitoring unit which is installed in the container itself. ComPosIT is suitable for tracking and monitoring of high value cargo in reefer or dry containers.

ComPosIT keeps the user informed about status of the container through use of e-mail, mobile phone text messages and Internet database access as suitable for the specific purpose and situation. In the event of a cargo critical condition ComPosIT provides immidiate information about this condition, allowing the operator to take immediate action to prevent any cargo losses.

REFTEST

The REFTEST is a handy, robust device for local testing and verification of the ISO10368 power line Remote Monitoring Modem (RMM) installed in reefer containers.

REFTEST connects directly to a spare container power outlet and immediately allows all RMM's connected to that power distribution network to communicate. Choosing the container in question on the built-in display allows the user to run a full test of the RMM installation using REFTEST.

Case story: RMM is not an option

Since the approval in 1992 of the original ISO10368 standard for reefer container monitoring the number of ISO10368 compliant modems in reefer containers have seen a significant growth.

In recent years more than 2/3's of all new reefer containers are built with RMM's installed adding up to a total of more than 50% of the entire reefer container fleet with ISO10368 RMM's installed.

Once an optional extra the ISO10368 RMM is now becoming standard equipment for the majority of container shipping lines.
