Global Monitoring Server

The Global Monitoring Server enables shipping lines to establish automated, centralized remote monitoring of all reefer containers, covering their entire journey from producer to final destination. The secure web server, accessed with a password, provides historical data of container conditions, enabling value adding analysis and integration of container and system data – whenever and wherever desired.

Benefits

  • 24/7 surveillance: With a myREEFER solution in place you can meet – and exceed – your customers’ expectations every day. It takes care of your reefer containers and protects your  customers’ cargo at all times.

  • Transparency through data sharing: myREEFER allows you to share online reefer and cargo condition data, such as real-time temperature and location, with your partners in the cold supply chain. Open and transparent information sharing is a cornerstone not only in building customer trust, but also in relation to branding of your company and services.

  • Minimizing unexpected events: Knowing the true position of the reefer container means that you can take the necessary counter measures to avoid cargo or container tampering, theft, diversion or holdups in  transit. This will improve overall security and accountability – and reduce your operational risks.

  • Improve operation efficiency by integrating online container conditions into central IT-systems and grow business knowledge about operational and assets performance

How does it work

Reefers Online is the web-based interface for the Global Monitoring Server (GMS), which collects and stores data directly from reefer containers equipped with RMM+ or from local reefer monitoring systems like REFCON, RefLine, and RefBox. These effective monitoring solutions for shipping terminals, warehouses, ships, trains, and trucks record data from reefer refrigeration equipment and sensors, and send it to the Global Monitoring Server via Internet connections, satellites, and GRPS services.

Case Story: Automated USDA approval

In their search for a better way of serving their customers, the United States Department of Agriculture - USDA - contacted Johnson Controls to discuss the possible use of the Johnson Controls based tools and infrastructure. It was soon identified that the monitoring products and infrastructure already implemented and operational from Johnson Controls was a perfect platform for a new automated electronic USDA approval procedure.

As a result USDA and Johnson Controls have recently made a joint announcement of the plans to offer fully automated electronic USDA approval of container loads being transported into USA. For USDA as well as the container shipping line this offers a significant efficiency improvement.
