Since 1992, and thanks to the foresight of the ISO member countries, the ISO10368 standard for reefer container monitoring has enabled a solution that by 2005 had been installed on more than 300,000 containers and 1,500 ships and terminals.

The REFCON system enables an operator to automatically monitor and control thousands of reefer containers through a single computer system and provides following functions: - Monitors alarm and temperature-conditions, and notifies the user of any alarms generated by the container controller.
- Registers the history of each container, recording all-important parameters and storing the data in an accurate, detailed log file.
- Send commands, such as “defrost” and “change of set point”, to the containers directly from REFCON.
- Interfaces with the terminal planner for automatically transferring reefer container data and location.

Literally REFCON-in-a-Box, REFBOX is the option for smaller terminals or remote locations. REFBOX plugs into a standard reefer container power plug and immediately starts monitoring of up to 50 reefer containers connected to that power distribution network. In case of a problem in any of the monitored containers, REFBOX will alert the operator by built in local display, e-mail or mobile phone text message.
